News UK launches partnership with Brixton Finishing School

Last week, News UK launched its reverse mentorship programme with Brixton Finishing School, where alumni from the school will have the unique opportunity to mentor and be mentored by senior members of our staff here at News.

At the launch event, held at The News Building, attendees heard from past mentor matches including EVP Publisher, The Sun, Dominic Carter and former pupil Ivan Figueiredo. Dominic summed up exactly why these initiatives are so important to underrepresented communities: “Getting into these places in the industry is hard because you feel like you don’t deserve to be there, let alone fit in. I had to take myself back, remind myself of that journey”.
